A Hurricane or Tropical Storm Watch means that Hurricane or Tropical Storm conditions are possible in the watch area within the next 36 hours. Tropical Storm conditions: winds 39 - 73mph. Hurricane conditions: winds 74mph or greater. Keep track of the progress of the storm by listening to local media. Make sure the family vehicles are in good running condition and have a full tank of gas. Inspect and secure mobile home tie downs. Be prepared to cover all window and door openings with shutters or other shielding materials. Check your supply of  batteries and stock up on canned food, first aid supplies, drinking water, and medications. Be prepared to bring lawn furniture and other loose, light-weight objects, such as garbage cans, garden tools, etc. inside. Make sure you have an extra supply of cash on hand.
