means that excessive heat and humidity are possible in the next day or two.

You should begin preparations now!

If you have a window unit:

Turn it on and run if to make sure that it is cooling adequately.

Close any floor heat registers nearby.

Insulate spaces around air conditioners for a tighter fit.

Use a circulating or box fan to spread the cool air.

If you have central air conditioning:

Turn it on and run if to make sure that it is cooling adequately.

Check air-conditioning ducts for proper insulation.

Install temporary reflectors, such as aluminum foil covered cardboard, to reflect heat back outside.

Keep  cool air insid by installing weather-stripping on your doors and windowsills.

Consider keeping storm windows up all year. Storm windows can keep heat out of your home in the summer and cold out of your home in the winter.
